How to Grow Mint to Keep Bugs Away

How to grow mint to keep bugs away

Introduction

Mint is a great herb to grow in your garden, but it can be hard to keep it contained. Mint grows in a mound shape that's difficult to contain when planted alone. To prevent your mint from taking over, plant it in pots or other containers where its roots are restricted. You can also prune off any unwanted growths to keep your mint manageable and prevent it from growing too large for its space. Mint likes lots of water and plenty of sun, so don't be afraid to give your plant lots of both!

Mint likes lots of water and plenty of sun.

Mint is a perennial plant and can be grown in a pot on your patio. It likes lots of water and plenty of sun. Mint is also a good companion plant for other plants, so it's great to grow in your garden or flowerbeds.

Plant mint in a pot to keep it from growing strongly.

Mint is a strong-growing herb, so it will spread quickly if not contained. This makes it important to grow mint in a container rather than directly in the ground. If you choose to grow it in the ground, you must make sure that the soil is well drained and loose so that the plant doesn't have problems with water retention or root rot. Mint does best when planted in pots or planters because they keep it from taking over too much space around your home or garden area. The potting soil should be kept loose and well-drained; if there are any spots where water can collect (even after watering), they should be filled with pebbles or gravel to prevent root rot from occurring on those areas of exposed roots.

Mint plants need regular watering throughout their growing season—especially during hot summer days—to maintain healthy growth rates throughout their life cycle.

Harvest mint leaves before the plant flowers.

Tired of crowded parks being your only "nature"? Exhausted from cross-city treks for weekend activities? Craving genuine peace beyond the city hustle? It might be time to look NORTH. The dream many New Yorkers chase seems impossible: genuine connection with nature without sacrificing urban amenities. We love the energy, opportunities, and excitement of Manhattan, but at what cost to our wellbeing? As someone who helps city dwellers find their perfect home in Fairfield and Westchester Counties, I've witnessed countless transformations as people discover they can truly have it all – the accessibility of NYC with the breathing room of northern suburbs.

After seeing next to nothing on in February, it is nice to see some new inventory flowing. Those looking in the Katonah- Lewisboro District or Bedford Central District are going to need to be prepared for bidding wars. The inventory just isn’t there. I have been blessed to have some listings on, but the chaos has been real. The biggest thing- the list price is not going to be the final price most of the time. In fact, high demand areas are going 10-20% above their list price. Don’t let it stress you out- just get in with me early so we can have a plan! In non real estate news… I am getting excited for spring. Who is thinking of a garden this year? It is almost time to get the party started. I recently cleared out a few of my vegetable garden boxes, but am leaving some alone- along with leaves and plants alone in case little critters are using it for warmth or hiding. Want a garden, but don’t know where to start? Start small- I love herbs, lettuce, micro greens and radishes- they never fail me. If a flower cutting garden is more your thing- check out Sweet Earth Co. for a great cutting garden course. Events coming up: Mount Kisco Food Pantry Community Table Event, April 24 The Meadows TICKETS Hopes Door Thursday, May 8 Mamaroneck Beach Club TICKETS Garden Party in Pound Ridge- details TBD, but save the date June 30 6:30pm
