It's a lovely place

The first thing you'll notice about Upstate New York is the scenery. The lakes, the forests, and the mountains are all beautiful. You can go skiing or hiking in the winter, or enjoy a walk along the beach during summer. It's not just eye candy—you'll find that people here are friendly too!

They'll help you out when you need assistance with your problems or issues, and even if they don't know anything about what's going on with your situation, they'll still make an effort to be as supportive as possible.

Your home will appreciate in value

If you're thinking about buying a home, Upstate New York is the place to do it. According to Trulia's latest data, listing prices have been steadily rising throughout the region over the past decade. In fact, according to their numbers, cities like Albany and Buffalo are seeing an even higher rate of appreciation than some of the country's biggest markets—including Los Angeles and Boston.

You'll get peace and quiet

In the city, there's always something going on that demands your attention: honking horns, sirens blaring, people talking loudly or playing their music on the street. You can't escape it! But upstate New York is a different world—people are less likely to honk their horns, traffic is less congested (which means fewer cars and less pollution), and people are generally quieter than they are in Manhattan or Brooklyn.
